Roscoe Jigs: Part 2

image The weather was beautiful offshore today so we headed out with film crew in tow to shoot some more video of our new Roscoe Jig in action.  Once again we were fishing with Capt. Rick Croson of Living Waters Guide Service on board his Onslow Bay 23T.  Also fishing we us today was Captain Arlen Ash of Ultimate Reaction SportfishingCredence Pictures is producing the video.  Their crew on today’s shoot was Randy Durham, owner and chief producer, as well as Warren Gentry on the camera.

We left the dock before first light and head for the gulf stream.  Once again we fished exclusively with our new Roscoe Jig.  Roscoe is available in 7 and 4 ounce sizes and is most often used with assist hooks on a parabolic style jigging rod.  On our last trip we discovered that cobia just couldn’t seem to resist Roscoe when he was dangled within their range.  We also know that grouper, snapper, amber jacks and kings all love Roscoe so we were anxious to see what else might bite a Roscoe rig.

We began work on designing a smaller version of Roscoe a while back and had the first handful of prototypes with us to try out on this trip.  Weighing in at just over 2 ounces, it will come rigged with a treble hook on the bottom. The body has the same general shape as the bigger sizes.  I was impressed with how fast they would drop in 300 feet of water, that fin in the back really does the trick..  The trigger fish, pinkies and others seemed to really like it.  We were happy with the results so we are taking it to production.  Look for the the new jig to hit your local store in the next few months.

We caught a good number of grouper species today including these two beauties on our 4 and 7 ounce Roscoe jigs:

We also added Black Fin Tuna and some Red Groupers to the growing list:

We caught over 20 species of fish today with Roscoe including seven species of grouper, king mackerel, amber jacks, amalco jacks, sharks, tuna, trigger fish and many others.  Roscoe seems to be loved by any fish that eats squid which is well…. about all of them.  Go Roscoe!
